Pediatric Ophthalmology

Our practice is focused on comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology with emphasis on strabismus, amblyopia, cataracts and refractive errors in children. Our doctors have extensive training in pediatric ophthalmology. Dr. Stager, Jr. trained with one of the founders of Pediatric Ophthalmology, Marshall M. Parks, MD in Washington, D.C. Vision problems in children are often very different than those in adults. Importantly, amblyopia and strabismus or misaligned eyes can irreparably damage the vision development in children much more than in adults. It is critical to detect these conditions early and treat them promptly. Our doctors will make an effort to explain to you any abnormalities they detect and discuss the best treatment options with you. If you and your doctor decide that surgery is the best option for your child, a detailed discussion of the risks, benefits and alternatives to surgery will be made. We also have many additional resources available to further educate you on your child’s vision issues.
